Warm Halloumi and Orange Blossom Bulgur Skillet

Toasted bulgur, seared halloumi, and bright citrus herbs come together in a fragrant warm skillet salad.

Ingredients

  • fine bulgur1 cup
  • halloumi cheese, sliced250 g
  • orange, segmented2 medium
  • cucumber, diced1 large
  • scallions, sliced3
  • fresh dill, chopped2 tbsp
  • fresh parsley, chopped1/4 cup
  • lemon juice2 tbsp
  • orange blossom water1 tsp
  • olive oil3 tbsp
  • toasted sesame seeds1 tbsp
  • salt and black pepperto taste

Method

  1. 1Place the bulgur in a heatproof bowl, cover with 1 cup boiling water, and let it stand for 10 minutes.
  2. 2Fluff the bulgur with a fork, then season with lemon juice, orange blossom water, 2 tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3Heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet and sear the halloumi slices until golden on both sides.
  4. 4Add the bulgur to the skillet and warm briefly, then fold in cucumber, scallions, dill, and parsley.
  5. 5Top with orange segments and toasted sesame seeds.
  6. 6Serve warm, with any juices from the pan spooned over the salad.

Tips

  • Use fine bulgur for a light texture that absorbs the dressing quickly.
  • Add the orange segments at the end so they stay fresh and juicy.
  • Halloumi browns best in a dry, hot skillet before the oil goes in around it.
