Ingredients
- Ground lamb500 g
- Olive oil2 tbsp
- Yellow onion, finely diced1 medium
- Garlic, minced3 cloves
- Ground allspice1 tsp
- Ground cumin1 tsp
- Sour cherries, pitted1 cup
- Plain yogurt3/4 cup
- Mint, chopped1/4 cup
- Butter lettuce leaves12 large leaves
Method
- 1Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the onion until softened.
- 2Add the lamb, garlic, allspice, cumin, salt, and pepper; cook until browned and crumbly.
- 3Stir in the sour cherries and cook just until they burst and glaze the meat.
- 4Mix the yogurt with half the mint and a pinch of salt.
- 5Arrange lettuce leaves on a platter and spoon the lamb mixture into each leaf.
- 6Top with the mint yogurt and the remaining mint, then serve immediately.
Tips
- If the cherries are very tart, add a small pinch of sugar to balance the filling.
