55 min 4 Medium

Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour1 cup
  • baking powder1 teaspoon
  • ground cardamom1/2 teaspoon
  • salt1/4 teaspoon
  • eggs2
  • sugar3/4 cup
  • milk1 cup
  • butter, melted1/4 cup
  • orange blossom water1 teaspoon
  • pistachios, finely chopped1/2 cup

Method

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a small baking dish.
  2. 2Whisk flour, baking powder, cardamom, and salt in one bowl.
  3. 3In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until slightly pale, then whisk in milk, melted butter, and orange blossom water.
  4. 4Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until smooth.
  5. 5Pour into the dish and sprinkle pistachios evenly over the top.
  6. 6Bake until set and lightly golden, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  7. 7Cool for 10 minutes before serving so the texture stays tender and sliceable.

Tips

  • Do not overmix the batter or the cake can turn dense.
  • For a stronger floral note, add an extra drop of orange blossom water, not more.
  • Chill leftovers; the flavor deepens by the next day.
