Method
- 1Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a small loaf pan with parchment.
- 2Melt the butter in a small pan and cook until it turns golden and smells nutty, then cool for 5 minutes.
- 3Whisk flour, baking powder, cardamom, and salt in a bowl.
- 4In another bowl, whisk the brown butter, brown sugar, egg, yogurt, and vanilla until smooth.
- 5Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then gently stir in the diced pear.
- 6Scrape into the pan, smooth the top, and scatter the sugar over the surface.
- 7Bake until the loaf is deeply golden and a tester comes out mostly clean, about 35 to 40 minutes; cool before slicing.
Tips
- Use a pear that is ripe but still firm so the pieces hold their shape.
- For extra aroma, add a pinch of black pepper to the dry ingredients.
