How long do spinach and salad greens last?
Loose leafy greens keep 3–7 days refrigerated; pre-washed bagged salad is closer to 3–5 days. Cooked greens freeze for 10–12 months after blanching.

Store it right
- Line the container with a dry paper towel to absorb condensation.
- Wash only right before eating unless the bag says pre-washed.
- Store away from apples and bananas, which release ripening ethylene.
Signs it has gone off
- Slimy leaves
- Dark, translucent patches
- Sharp, sulphurous smell
Rescue ideas
- Wilted greens are perfect in soups, curries, omelettes and pesto.
- Blend into a green smoothie and freeze in cubes.
- Crisp them up in ice water for 15 minutes before a salad.
