Skillet Orange-Sesame Chicken with Tender Broccoli

Ingredients

  • boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-size pieces1 1/2 pounds
  • broccoli florets4 cups
  • orange juice1/2 cup
  • soy sauce3 tablespoons
  • honey2 tablespoons
  • rice vinegar1 tablespoon
  • garlic, minced2 cloves
  • fresh ginger, grated1 teaspoon
  • cornstarch1 tablespoon
  • sesame oil1 teaspoon
  • neutral oil1 tablespoon
  • sesame seeds1 tablespoon

Method

  1. 1Whisk orange juice, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch in a small bowl.
  2. 2Heat the neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the chicken for 5 to 6 minutes.
  3. 3Add the broccoli and 2 tablespoons water, then cover and steam for 3 minutes.
  4. 4Pour in the sauce and toss everything until glossy and thickened, about 2 minutes.
  5. 5Finish with sesame oil and sesame seeds.
  6. 6Serve over rice or noodles if you like.

Tips

  • Cut the chicken into similar-size pieces so it cooks evenly.
  • If your orange is very sweet, add a splash more vinegar for balance.
  • The sauce thickens quickly, so keep tossing once it goes in.
