Ingredients

Method
- 1Whisk flour, cocoa, ground sesame, powdered sugar, and salt together.
- 2Cream the butter until smooth, then beat in the egg yolk, vanilla, and milk.
- 3Add the dry ingredients and mix just until a dough forms; chill briefly for easier shaping.
- 4Roll the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into rings or circles with small centers removed.
- 5Transfer to a lined tray, sprinkle with extra sesame seeds, and chill while the oven heats to 350°F.
- 6Bake until the cookies look set at the edges but still tender in the middle, about 10–12 minutes.
- 7Cool completely before moving, as they firm up as they rest.
Tips
- Grinding the sesame seeds finer gives a more even texture.
