FoodSaver ("we", "us", "the app") is a food-inventory and recipe assistant. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it and how you can delete it.
1. Data we collect
- Google account info (only if you sign in with Google): your email address, display name and avatar URL. We never see or store your Google password.
- Pantry & scan data you create in the app: items you add, photos you scan, recipes you save.
- Reviews you post inside the app (rating, comment, display name).
- A device identifier generated locally by the app for anti-abuse (e.g. limiting spam reviews from one device).
- Subscription status if you buy Pro through Google Play — we receive purchase tokens and entitlement status from Google Play so we can unlock features on your account.
- Basic technical logs (error reports, request timestamps) needed to keep the service running.
2. What we do NOT collect
- No advertising identifiers.
- No location data.
- No contacts, SMS, call logs, or device file listings.
- No third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
3. How we use your data
- To let you sign in and greet you by name.
- To store and sync your pantry, scans and reviews.
- To recognise food from photos you scan (via an AI provider — the image is processed to return a text label and then discarded).
- To verify your Google Play subscription and unlock Pro features.
- To fight abuse (spam reviews, fraud).
4. Who we share data with
- Google — sign-in and Play Billing.
- Our backend host (Lovable Cloud, powered by Supabase) — stores your account data on our behalf, encrypted in transit and at rest.
- AI providers we use for food recognition — they receive the image, return a label, and are contractually forbidden from training on your data or retaining it.
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
5. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (see next section) we permanently delete your profile, pantry items, reviews and entitlement records within 30 days. Backups are cycled out within 90 days.
6. Your rights & account deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from More → Settings → Delete my accountinside the app. You can also email privacy@foodsavercompanion.appto request access, correction, export or deletion of your data.
7. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords never touch our servers (we use Google OAuth). Access to production data is restricted to authorised maintainers.
8. Children
FoodSaver is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Changes
When we materially change this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for account holders, show an in-app notice on next launch.
